Willis suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday’s wild-card win over the Cowboys and is unlikely to play Saturday against the Packers, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Willis and Nick Bosa (concussion) were both injured on the same play late in the second quarter. However, the former was able to return to the field after halftime and totaled one quarterback hit on Dak Prescott across 22 defensive snaps. While he was able to continue playing Sunday, it appears that he won’t be available for the NFC divisional round after being diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain, which usually takes over a week to properly heal. The good news for the 49ers is that Bosa is expected to clear concussion protocols ahead of Saturday, so they will likely have their top edge pass rusher. However, Samson Ebukam will likely be thrust into an expanded role if Willis is ultimately ruled out.
