Arizona State lost four prominent senior offensive linemen — starting center Cohl Cabral, tackle and guard Roy Hemsley, starting right tackle Steven Miller, and starting left guard Alex Losoya — from last year’s team and has just two returning scholarship upperclassman, sixth-year senior Cade Cote and junior Cody Shear.
With the knowledge that they would be losing three starters and a key backup, Sun Devil coaches hit the graduate transfer market hard and secured senior tackle Kellen Diesch from Texas A&M and senior lineman Henry Hattis from Stanford. Though Hattis was not with the team during its abbreviated spring ball, both players are expected to be starters from the outset of this season, with Diesch virtually locked into place at left tackle and Hattis at right guard.
The Sun Devils return sophomore starters Dohnovan West and LaDarius Henderson, who last season worked primarily at right guard and left tackle, respectively. Barring something unforeseen, West is a lock to start at left guard after a very successful freshman season in which he was perhaps the team’s best overall lineman.
