The edge-rush help the Colts might be able to get from their own roster isn’t going to arrive for a little while.
Likely a couple of weeks at least.
Kemoko Turay, the third-year defensive end who has spent the first seven weeks of the NFL season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list as he rehabilitates from the devastating ankle injury he suffered last year, is going to need some practice time before he returns to the field for Indianapolis on game day.
Indianapolis ranks 13th in the NFL in pressure percentage and 17th in sacks per pass attempt, but those numbers have been falling. The Colts have just four sacks in their last three games.
Edge pressure has been the problem. With DeForest Buckner leading the way, interior players have racked up 19 of the team’s 32 quarterback hits, but edge rushers outside of veteran Justin Houston have struggled to get home.
