The midseason influx of talent to the Cowboys’ defensive line continues.

Defensive end Breeland Speaks, a 2018 second-round draft pick, was signed Tuesday to the practice squad. He worked out for the team last week during its bye break. Speaks follows defensive lineman Ron’Dell Carter, a waiver claim last Wednesday, as additions since the team’s last game on Nov. 8 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Kansas City Chiefs did not have a first-round pick in 2018.

Just as defensive tackle Trysten Hill was to the Cowboys a year later, Speaks was the Chiefs’ highest selection in their draft class. He appeared in all 16 games as a rookie with four starts, totaling 11/2 sacks. But he missed the 2019 season to a knee injury and failed to make the roster in training camp this summer.
