Tennessee is one of at least a few SEC schools that haven’t given up on Ryqueze McElderry in recent months despite his longstanding commitment to Georgia. Their persistence in pursuing him finally paid off Saturday, with McElderry announcing that he’s officially back on the market.
The Class of 2023 offensive lineman from Anniston (Ala.) High School revealed in a post on his Twitter account that he has decommitted from Georgia, reopening his recruitment after being committed to the Bulldogs for more than seven months. Tennessee, Auburn and Alabama have been the other main contenders for McElderry over the past several months.
The 6-foot-3.5, 335-pound McElderry traveled to Tennessee the weekend of June 17 on his most recent official visit. He also took official visits to Auburn the weekend of May 27 and Georgia the weekend of June 10 before parting ways with the Bulldogs.
