The Dolphins selected defensive tackle Raekwon Davis in the second round, out of Alabama, because he’s 6-foot-6, 311 pounds, with long arms and all the physical tools to do damage.
It is a large part of Defensive Line Coach Marion Hobby’s job to get the most out of defensive linemen like Christian Wilkins and Shaq Lawson (he coached both at Clemson) and now, Davis, a powerful man who should rotate in and challenge veteran Davon Godchaux for playing time.
So, what’s Hobby’s plan?
“Showing them on tape, where he can be better, holding him accountable to play at a high level,” Hobby said. “He’s in a meeting room where those guys are going to push him as well, on and off the field, to do the right things. It’s going to take some work, but he’s headed in the right direction.”
