he Detroit Lions have activated defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand, giving them a shot at seeing their defensive line near full strength against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8.

Lions coach Dan Campbell said Hand was close to returning from injured reserve on Friday, saying they would monitor how he felt heading into Sunday’s game. Hand suffered a groin injury during training camp, missing every game to this point. He joins a defensive line featuring Michael Brockers, Nick Williams, John Penisini, Jashon Cornell, and blossoming rookies Alim McNeill and Levi Onwuzurike. Trey Flowers, Austin Bryant, Julian Okwara and Charles Harris operate from the edge and outside linebacker.
