Missouri defensive lineman Mekhi Wingo has transferred to LSU, he announced on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-1, 275-pound Wingo had 27 total tackles and a sack in 2021 as a freshman.
He is the 11th player to transfer to LSU since coach Brian Kelly’s hiring and the first defensive lineman from the portal to join the Tigers.
Wingo was a three-star recruit coming out of De Smet Jesuit in Creve Coeur, Missouri, the same high school where LSU cornerbacks coach Robert Steeples was the coach from 2016-19.
He joins an LSU defensive line corps that’s lost a few key contributors from 2021. Graduate student Andre Anthony is not expected to return after suffering a season-ending injury against Central Michigan and Neil Farrell Jr. has declared the NFL Draft.
