Due to a bye week and a game cancelation, North Carolina won’t find a victory on the football field until Oct. 3, at the earliest. But, the Tar Heels pulled out an eleventh-hour recruiting victory on Friday afternoon: high-three-star offensive tackle Diego Pounds verbally committed to the Tar Heels, after being a Penn State lean for a couple of months.
“Mack is back!” Pounds shouted after revealing a UNC shirt.
In addition to UNC and PSU, Pounds, a 6-foot-6, 305-pounder from Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook High, was considering Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Duke, LSU, Miami, NC State, Oregon, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech. In total, more than three dozen schools offered.
n addition to his high-three-star rating, 247Sports Composite ranks Pounds as the nation’s No. 38 offensive tackle and the state of North Carolina’s No. 25 overall recruit.
