The lone staffing change Shane Beamer has had to face this offseason appears to have been filled and his coaching staff is once again complete.
According to reports, Sterling Lucas is set to be hired as South Carolina’s next outside linebackers and edge rushers, taking over for Mike Peterson, who leave USC for his alma mater Florida earlier this month after six seasons in Columbia.
An Orangeburg, South Carolina native, Lucas spent the 2021 season on Urban Meyer’s Jacksonville Jaguars staff as an assistant defensive line coach. Lucas has been coaching in the NFL since 2016, rising up through the staffing ranks from defensive and strength and conditioning assistant to assistant defensive line coach with Baltimore Ravens for the 2020 season.
