The momentum train kept on chugging along for the 2023 Texas football recruiting class with the 18th commit on the evening of July 3. Second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive line coach Bo Davis landed a commitment from the sizable and touted four-star Bergen Catholic (NJ) defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell.
Texas landed the 6-foot-5 and 345-pound Mitchell via an announcement on CBS Sports HQ on the evening of July 3. This commitment arrived for the Longhorns 2023 class over other top schools for Mitchell such as the Georgia Bulldogs, Miami Hurricanes, and Texas A&M Aggies.
