Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells announced the addition of Texas A&M transfer Tyree Wilson to the Red Raider football program Monday to start the fall semester.
Wilson, who will apply for an NCAA waiver for immediate eligibility, began practicing with the Red Raiders this past Friday, giving Wells and his staff another large presence across the defensive line ahead of the 2020 season. Wilson arrives in Lubbock as only a sophomore after playing one season with the Aggies.
Wilson signed with the Aggies as one of the top prospects in Texas as the New London native ranked among the state’s top 75 players in the 2018 class by both 247Sports and Rivals. He was listed as the No. 16 weak-side defensive end in the country by 247Sports and the No. 32 overall prospect in the Lone Star State after a successful three-year career at West Rusk High School.
