Despite a Coastal Division title and a trip to the Orange Bowl, Virginia struggled to establish anything on the ground last season, finishing second to last in the ACC with 121.2 rushing yards per game. But the Cavaliers feel this group might be different as the most experienced offensive line in the ACC, with a total of 115 career starts among them.
UVA returns all five starters on the offensive line from last season’s Orange Bowl with Oluwatimi, Reinkensmeyer, Chris Glaser, Bobby Haskins and Ryan Nelson. Add in players like 6-10 swing tackle Ryan Swoboda and transfer Alex Gellerstedt, who missed last season with a season-ending injury, giving the Cavaliers plenty of options.
“Coach Tujague always tells us to get off the ball. He told us that last year, but we all came back from quarantine bigger, stronger and ready to lead the team,” junior center Olu Oluwatimi said, “So I think we’re more well-equipped going into this season to run the football.”
